Music Monday - You Love Me Anyway

"You Love Me Anyway"

by Sidewalk Prophets

Since it is the start of the week that contains Valentine's Day

I thought it would be appropriate to talk about love.

And since I'm not really a mushy PDA type of gal,

I'm talking about Christ's love for us.

I really like the Sidewalk Prophets.

Their lyrics speak to me

and I believe God speaks through them to me.

I love when it says...

Still you call me to walk
On the edge of this world
To spread my dreams and fly

But the future's so far
My heart is so frail
I think I'd rather stay inside

But You love me anyway
It's like nothing in life
That I've ever known
Yes You love me anyway
Oh Lord, how You love me
How you love me

the line that says my heart is so frail I think I'd rather stay inside...

yep, pretty much.

But He calls us to not stay inside

to not keep it all inside

but to let it out

let His love shine through us.

Because He loves us anyway.

Like nothing in life that I've ever known,

He loves us anyway.

Always.

no.matter.what

No matter how ugly life gets

no matter how ugly we get

He loves us anyway.

I really try to take this approach with my children.

I try to mother as I think Jesus would have

you know, if he had been born a mother.

No matter how my kids mess up, or how ugly they are to each other, or how many times they fall, or how badly they mess up, or disappointing they act... or the countless other ways all children "misbehave"... it's just like us and our sinful ways. I love them anyway because

He loves us anyway.

And when I say love. I mean that all encompassing, forgiving, grace-filled, merciful, awe-inspiring, powerful, from the depths of my soul, I love you so much I could just eat you - type love.

Wow.

You know how sometimes you just need to love on your kids?

I know I do. Sometimes I just need a Zack snuggle or a Luke hug. Well, can you picture Jesus wanting to that to us? Let Him love on you today. Not feeling worthy? Sometimes those are the times my kids need me to love on them the most. So let Him.

He loves you anyway.

The question was raised
As my conscience fell
A silly little lie

It didn't mean much
But it lingers still
In the corners of my mind

Still you call me to walk
On the edge of this world
To spread my dreams and fly

But the future's so far
My heart is so frail
I think I'd rather stay inside

But You love me anyway
It's like nothing in life
That I've ever known
Yes You love me anyway
Oh Lord, how You love me
How you love me

It took all of my strength
To simply be still
To seek but never find

The reasons we change
The reasons I doubt
And Why do loved ones have to die?

But You love me anyway
It's like nothing in life
That I've ever known
Yes You love me anyway
Oh Lord, how You love me

I am the thorn in your crown
But You love me anyway
I am the sweat from Your brow
But You love me anyway
I am the nail in Your wrist
But You love me anyway
I am Judas' kiss
But You love me anyway
See now I am the man who yelled out from the crowd
For Your blood to be spilled on this earth shaking ground
Yes then I turned away with a smile on my face
With this sin in my heart, tried to bury Your grace
And then alone in the night I still call out for You
So ashamed of my life, my life, my life

But You love me anyway
Oh God, how You love me
Yes You love me anyway
It's like nothing in life
That I've ever known
Yes You love me anyway
Oh Lord, how You love me

You love me (x4)

How You love me (x3)
